Chipmunk Box

Chipmunkbox_3 Chipmunkbox2

I used a specimen box from Martha Stewart to create this collage box. It was really fun to make. I like collage because you can rearrange things and experiment with different materials. I used a piece of an antique book, original drawing, decorative papers, masking tape and glue.

Bonjour! Quelles sont tes fleurs preferees ?

717 Ummm.....I am going to France in May for a month to stay at Chateau L'Hesperit in the south of France. It has not completely sunk in but it is slowly becoming reality and I owe it all to my very own very young fairy godmother.

203One day quite a while ago I read this e-mail from one of my buyers. All I remember is  reading something about her mom has a chateau in France and would I like to go there and paint for a month and me  screaming WHAT???!! I believed her because she said something about, "I know this doesn't sound real but it is".  And it has become true. She set it all up for me. Her mother owns a Chateau with wine vineyards and an animal sanctuary. I will be painting and playing with all the French ducks, pigs, cows, sheep and so on.193

I hope to take lots and lots of pictures and post them on here when I get back. The pictures at left are from Michelle.

I have been listening to the French Ecole Podcast on Itunes for beginners. It is a magical language but I think I will wear a miniature English/French dictionary around my neck.

The Chateau I believe is about an hour outside of Bordeaux in wine country. I think the nearest town is Montcaret.

Look at the French kitty. So cute!

i love llamas

LlamasetsyWhen I lived in Minnesota I would drive by this llama farm set back among some small hills. Occasionally I would get to see about 20 llamas in all different colors and sizes congregating in between the hills. I think they are so unique looking. They have these gigantic doe eyes and long eye lashes. Here is the photo I used for the baby llama in the painting.
Young_lama Figure with Llamas is currently in my etsy shop. Her top is collaged with decorative papers. I am probably going to move the painting from etsy over to ebay in a live auction with a reserve price. Ebay has finally lowered their fees for sellers. So I am going to see if there are any llama collectors out there.

Collage_3

This started out as a self-portrait and morphed into more of a template of a figure. I used the wabi-sabi approach and didn't  have a preconceived idea about where it was going to go. I am not sure where I found this quote. I have had it for a long, long time. If anyone knows where it comes from could you leave a note.

Wabi-sabi
is the  beauty of things imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete.
It is the beauty of things  modest and humble.
It is the beauty of things unconventional.
At the core of wabi-sabi is the importance of transcending ways of looking and thinking about things/existence.
All things are impermanent
All things are imperfect
All things are incomplete

I used balled up masking tape and vellum, torn masking tape, acylics, graphite, decorative papers, velum drawings and photocopies on drawing paper.

Went walking in the McDowell Mountains. All the birds were hiding. I only saw one bird with a name I cannot pronounce, Pyrrhuloxia.
